RSVP etiquette?

Last Thursday (over a week ago), I sent out a paper invitation with a lovely poem inviting people to my annual chili party requesting an RSVP with my phone number/ e-mail. Usually, by this time, several people would have RSVP'd. This year, TWO people have RSVP'd and both can't come (out of about 70 people). I wonder if everyone is just stressed (see previous post) like me or if there is something else wrong... I could also be overanalyzing the situation. The party is a week away... I am hoping the RSVPs start rolling in...

By the way, I gave up Facebook until March 6th (exam day)! I am feeling a little less stressed- thanks to your comments... one thing at a time!

I love paper invitations--one nice thing about evites is that evite sends out a rsvp reminder 1-2 times which helps remind people to rsvp. I have had this problem before too and always over purchase because of it.

People have gotten really awful about RSVP-ing. My friend has parties all the time & always gets frustrated that people don't do it! Hopefully someday etiquette will be more important like it used to be!

People who do not Rsvp...my goodness, an etiquette faux pas! I totally understand your feelings. Your only choice is to phone them before the event and say something like "You never replied...and I wasn't sure how many guests would be dining with me..." Now, YOU are cordially invited to attend a Lilly Fashion Show next week. You can stop by my blog post today for the details. I sure hope to see you then!
